This video tutorial shows you how to build a simple MP3 music player in Flash. It uses a MP3 file, and uses two buttons to Play and Stop the music. The tutorial uses some simple Actionscript code to create a sound object, attach the music file and to play and stop the music.
In a later tutorial I'll show you how to add volume controls to the player so that the user can easily increase and descrease the volume of the music.

Using text boxes in Flash
Here are a few short tutorials on using text boxes and processing text in Flash. The tutorials are available in either Flash Paper format or Adobe PDF. You can also access them online and view the working Flash files at Maximized.co.uk/flashintro.
The tutorials look at using Input Boxes in Flash to receive information, and processing that information. Tutorial 1 shows you how to transfer information from one text box to another, Tutorial 2 creates a simple login system that checks for correct entry of a password , and Tutorial 3 builds a simple calculator and looks at a common problem encountered when handling string and number variable types.
The tutorials assume some prior knowledge of Flash, including creating and using buttons, simple Actionscripting and assigning Properties with the Properties Inspector.

Basic Navigation in Flash
Here's one of the first tutorials, involving Actionscript, that I teach - creating simple navigation between the frames of a Flash Movie.
The tutorial uses pre-made buttons from the common libraries, simple gotoAndStop() commands and onRelease functions.

Welcome to the Learn Flash blog.
Welcome to my blog about learning to use Flash.
I'm Colin Maxwell, a lecturer in multimedia computing and also an Adobe Education Leader. In this blog I'll be posting links, information and tutorials about Flash. Some of the tutorials will be in video format, so you can actually watch and learn.
If you have any suggestions for tutorials, then please post a message or e-mail me and I'll see if I can post a tutorial to meet your needs.
Here are some links to some of the Flash work I've been involved in:
Think Design - Cheat the Chav
Think Design - Mindmapper
Retro Games - SuperHero
